Located in Garfield County northeast of downtown Rifle, Colorado, and 15 miles from Silt, Colorado, Rifle Falls State Park is a lush area of trees and greenery that keeps moist from the cascading triple waterfalls. Under the falls are mysterious limestone caves for exploring. The park contains a deciduous riparian forest, turkey vultures, great blue herons, mule deer, and wetlands. Whenever you visit, you'll enjoy moderately mild temperatures, but keep in mind that it can become cold in the winter.

Cottonwood Campground

Elk Creek Campground
Drive about a half an hour southeast of Rifle Falls State Park, and you'll come across the incredible Elk Creek Campground. This campground is situated only a short distance from Flattops Wilderness Area, which is the second-largest wilderness in Colorado. Each of the 67 sites can accommodate both tents and RVs up to 42 feet long.

Rifle Falls State Park is not just for campers; it's a hot spot for anyone who enjoys mountain biking, trail running, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and hunting. The three 70-foot waterfalls provide excellent photo opportunities during any of the four seasons. Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing are big draws for many winter travelers. Rifle Falls also runs regular fun and educational interpretive programs from May through September.
How to Get to
Rifle Falls State Park
From Interstate 70, take exit 90. Then, travel north on Highway 13, also known as Railroad Avenue, for approximately four miles through the town of Rifle. Turn right onto Highway 325 and travel about 10 miles.
