Lake Murray State Park is located in south central Oklahoma, less than 5 miles from the city of Ardmore. It’s Oklahoma's largest state park, containing over 12,500 acres of relative wilderness. In 2001, it also became the first Oklahoma state park listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s most celebrated for its 5,700-acre lake, Lake Murray, making it a popular destination for fishing, boating, and other water sports. The state park is also a hub of outdoor activity, offering recreational opportunities such as swimming, golfing, picnics, camping, horseback riding, hayrides, hiking, biking, miniature golf and paddle boating. On-site sports facilities include an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop, tennis courts, softball fields, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, badminton and volleyball nets.
The state park is open year-round, including on public holidays. Like much of the state, it experiences a favorable, seasonally varied climate throughout the year. Daytime summer temperatures are around 95°F, while winter nights can fall to just 30°F. As a result, you’ll want to prepare accordingly for your trip to Lake Murray. Shangri-La RV Resort is another facility located just outside of the state park, on its eastern side. It offers a peaceful place to stay for guests wanting to enjoy the beautiful countryside setting. Full hookups are available and daily rates range from $25 - $27.50.

Red River Rose RV Resort
Red River Rose RV Resort (formerly Hidden Lake RV Resort) is located near the outskirts of the state park, though it is still extremely central to all of the region’s most popular attractions. The park is nestled in the beautiful hill country of the state and offers 67 pull-through sites, 17 back-in sites and 3 log cabins. RV sites cost $39 per night.

Lake Murray State Park might be popular for camping, but people also flock here because of the wide range of fun outdoor activities on offer. Whether you’re hoping to enjoy water sports, fishing, swimming, golfing, exploring the park’s trails, or more – there’s something for every type of traveler at Lake Murray.
Water sports : Lake Murray offers over 5,700 acres of water for water sports and activities, including water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, sailing, and more. Lake Murray Water Sports & Mini Golf is a rental business located inside the park, with paddleboats, canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, sail boats, water trampolines, water slides, wave runners, fishing boats, and Island Cruisers available to rent.
Fishing : The fishing at Lake Murray is excellent and is known for great largemouth and smallmouth bass fishing. If you’re in need of supplies, visit Lake Murray Marina for boat rentals, life jackets, boat fenders, dock lines, anchors, fishing equipment, live bait, frozen bait, and more. A valid fishing license is required.
Swimming : Lake Murray has several beach areas located around the lake. Sunset Beach is the most popular, but other swimming beaches include Marina Beach, Martins Landing Beach, and Resort Lodge Beach.
Golfing : The 18-hole Lake Murray State Park Golf Course is enjoyed by golfers of all ages and abilities. It even features strategically placed water hazards and a breathtaking natural waterfall! A pro shop and practice range are located on-site and individual or group lessons are available.
Trails : Lake Murray State Park has an extensive trail system for hikers and mountain bikers, including over 10 miles of trails ranging from easy to moderately difficult. The two major trails include Anadarche Trail and the Buckhorn Trial, while smaller trails such as the Lake Shore Trail and Beaver Trail take visitors closer to the lake’s shore.

Lake Murray State Park
The state park is less than 5 miles from Ardmore. Head south on S Commerce St towards McLish Ave SW, then turn left towards S Commerce St. Turn right onto S Commerce St before turning left onto US-70 E. Turn right onto OK-77S S and you arrive at Lake Murray State Park.
