Oklahoma

Lake Murray State Park is located in south central Oklahoma, less than 5 miles from the city of Ardmore. It’s Oklahoma's largest state park, containing over 12,500 acres of relative wilderness. In 2001, it also became the first Oklahoma state park listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It’s most celebrated for its 5,700-acre lake, Lake Murray, making it a popular destination for fishing, boating, and other water sports. The state park is also a hub of outdoor activity, offering recreational opportunities such as swimming, golfing, picnics, camping, horseback riding, hayrides, hiking, biking, miniature golf and paddle boating. On-site sports facilities include an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop, tennis courts, softball fields, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, badminton and volleyball nets.

The state park is open year-round, including on public holidays. Like much of the state, it experiences a favorable, seasonally varied climate throughout the year. Daytime summer temperatures are around 95°F, while winter nights can fall to just 30°F. As a result, you’ll want to prepare accordingly for your trip to Lake Murray.
