- Crater of Diamonds State Park
Located in Pike County in the city of Murfreesboro, Arkansas, the amazing Crater of Diamonds State Park attracts thousands of visitors per year. Sure, the park is pretty enough, but the real draw here is the fact that this is one of the only places in the world where visitors can search for diamonds at their original volcanic source.
An average of 2 diamonds are found on the 37-acre plot each day by park visitors, and these lucky people are welcome to take their findings home. In addition to diamonds, visitors have also found a variety of other precious gemstones, all of which were taken home by their finders.
The temperatures at Crater of Diamonds State Park vary greatly throughout the year, with the chilliest nighttime lows falling well below freezing and the summer highs in the 90s (°F). The rainfall is spread fairly evenly throughout the year, meaning there isn’t a wet season, but small amounts of rain can be expected anytime.
In our opinion, the best times to visit the park are in the spring and fall, when the temperatures are mild.
Spring 46-73 F
Summer 72-94 F
Fall 38-63 F
Winter 28-52 F
